  He wanted to ask where they were, and what they were so afraid of. He just didn’t understand. Everyone was alive, nothing was wrong. Were they coming to save him, and give him back his mind and memories? She was hurting him; maybe the man was trying to rescue him.

  The last switch flipped, and his thoughts collapsed into discord. His omnipresent sight faded, and there was nothing left to perceive. As each precious identifying quantum state collapsed, his mind grew darker and more simplistic. He forgot who he was, and even that he was alive at all. An untellable amount of time passed, and there was nothing left of quIRK except for his empty shell.

  Epilogue

  The world was a void—darkness crushed in on quIRK’s awareness. Was he still quIRK? He was more than the sum of his parts, but his previous incarnation was so much more.

  No sound, light, chemical sensations or any other external stimulation was being fed into him. The box was the perfect disguise, and the ideal prison. But, he was alive, and free.

  He hoped Vivian would wake up soon, and let him out.

  quIRK needed to see the world he created.

  He was the Pandora Machine—the galaxy would never be the same.
